dvh17 pathway

THE DVH17 PATHWAY

THE IDEAL LINE TO RACE READINESS

From Injury to A Safe & Competitive Return to Competition

RETURN TO PERFORMANCE TOWARDS RACE READINESS.

WHILE DRIVER DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES OUTSIDE THE RACE CAR.

Following Injury and Race Incidents in Junior Motorsport.

Better Connected. Better Supported. Better Prepared.

WHY THE PATHWAY EXISTS

MEDICAL CLEARANCE IS IMPORTANT.

BUT MEDICAL CLEARANCE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR COMPETITIVE MOTORSPORT.

Following Medical Clearance, the young racing driver is in between two different worlds.

In the Medical World, the young driver is a patient.

In the Race World, the young driver is a racing driver.

THIS IS THE PERFORMANCE GAP.

Return to Performance and Driver Development Outside the Race Car can coexist within the young driver’s individual progression.

The DVH17 Pathway provides the structure to connect that progression towards Race Readiness.

TO PREPARE THE DRIVER TO COMPETE

The DVH17 Pathway connects three distinct performance phases into one continuous progression:

RECOVERY & STABILITY

MEDICAL CLEARANCE — GATE

RETURN TO PERFORMANCE

RACE READINESS

SAFE & COMPETITIVE RETURN TO COMPETITION

The direction is fixed.

The progression is individual.

THE PATHWAY PROVIDES THE IDEAL LINE.

THE RESPONSE, ADAPTATION AND PERFORMANCE OF THE DRIVER DETERMINE THE PACE.

TIME IS A PERFORMANCE VARIABLE

For a developing young driver, time away from Competition is not neutral.

TIME DURING RECOVERY AFFECTS BOTH COMPETITIVE POSITION AND DEVELOPMENT POSITION.

While the young driver is recovering, the Race Team continues.

Racing continues.

The Driver Development environment continues.

RECOVERY SHOULD NOT UNNECESSARILY STOP WHAT CAN CONTINUE TO DEVELOP.

RECOVERY & STABILITY

ESTABLISHING THE INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE STARTING POINT.

Racing for Dilano enters the process during Recovery, before Medical Clearance.

The Driver Performance Profile establishes the individual performance reference across three connected areas:

ATHLETE CAPACITY

The young driver as a developing performer.

INJURY & RECOVERY CONSTRAINTS

The impact of the injury and Recovery.

MOTORSPORT DEMANDS

The demands the young driver is progressing back towards.

RACE TEAM CONNECTION STARTS FROM RECOVERY & STABILITY.

The Race Team contributes the Driver Development context to the Driver Performance Profile.

WHAT IS BEING DEVELOPED IN THIS DRIVER?

WHAT CAN CONTINUE TO DEVELOP DURING RETURN TO PERFORMANCE?

RECOVERY IS THE FOUNDATION OF FUTURE PERFORMANCE.

MEDICAL CLEARANCE

THE GATE TO RETURN TO PERFORMANCE.

Medical Clearance establishes that the young driver is medically cleared to resume activity.

It does not establish Race Readiness.

MEDICAL CLEARANCE ENABLES RETURN TO PERFORMANCE.

RETURN TO PERFORMANCE

HUMAN PERFORMANCE PROGRESSION.

Following Medical Clearance, the young driver enters Return to Performance.

Recovering, rebuilding and developing Human Performance Capacity towards the demands of Competitive Motorsport.

What has been affected?

What capacity remains?

What needs to recover?

What needs to be rebuilt?

What can continue to develop?

PROTECT WHAT NEEDS TO RECOVER.

REBUILD WHAT HAS BEEN AFFECTED.

DEVELOP WHAT CAN PROGRESS.

Progression is informed by Response, Adaptation and Performance under increasing Performance Load.

THINK OF IT LIKE THE PIT WALL

The Driver Performance Profile is the dashboard.

The young driver is moving.

Performance Information is coming in from across the High-Performance Environment.

Racing for Dilano is at the pit wall — bringing it all together, managing the Performance Intelligence and determining the next Performance Direction.

The next Performance Load is applied.

The young driver is personally and professionally guided in carrying out that individual progression, with the required expertise connected through the High-Performance Environment.

THE PATHWAY PROVIDES THE IDEAL LINE.

THE RESPONSE, ADAPTATION AND PERFORMANCE OF THE DRIVER DETERMINE THE PACE.

DRIVER DEVELOPMENT OUTSIDE THE RACE CAR

Injury may interrupt Driver Development, but not everything needs to stop.

A young driver in Recovery is still a developing performer.

What can continue to develop remains part of the young driver’s individual progression.

In coordination with the Race Team, Driver Development Outside the Race Car can continue as part of that progression.

OUT OF COMPETITION.

NEVER OUT OF DEVELOPMENT.

RACE READINESS

FROM RETURN TO PERFORMANCE TO RACE PERFORMANCE.

The driver progresses from Driver Development outside the race car towards simulator and on-track exposure under increasingly race-specific Performance Load.

RACE READINESS IS DEMONSTRATED THROUGH PERFORMANCE.

Performance Output is considered alongside:

Response.

Adaptation.

Recovery.

Load Tolerance.

Reproducibility.

CAN THE DRIVER PRODUCE, TOLERATE, RECOVER FROM AND REPRODUCE PERFORMANCE UNDER RACE-SPECIFIC DEMANDS?

Post-Exposure Follow-Up considers the driver’s Response following simulator and on-track exposure.

HUMAN PERFORMANCE OUTPUT

MEETS RACE PERFORMANCE OUTPUT.

RACE READINESS IS DEMONSTRATED THROUGH PERFORMANCE.

A BETTER PREPARED DRIVER

READY TO COMPETE.

RACE READINESS DEMONSTRATED UNDER PERFORMANCE LOAD.

HUMAN PERFORMANCE DEVELOPED TOWARDS THE DEMANDS OF COMPETITION.

Better Connected. Better Supported. Better Prepared.

RACING FOR DILANO FOUNDATION

AT THE PIT WALL OF THE INDIVIDUAL PROGRESSION.

AT THE CENTRE IS THE YOUNG DRIVER,

WITH THEIR PARENTS ALONGSIDE THEM.

During Recovery, Racing for Dilano begins coordinating the High-Performance Environment around the young driver — connecting the required expertise and requesting the relevant Performance Information needed to build the Driver Performance Profile and individualise the DVH17 Pathway.

As the young driver progresses, the Driver Performance Profile develops with them.

Relevant Performance Information is continuously requested from across the High-Performance Environment to form and manage the Performance Intelligence behind the next Performance Direction.

During Return to Performance, Racing for Dilano makes sure the right professional is working personally with the young driver under Performance Load, with Response, Adaptation and Performance providing new Performance Information for the progression.

In coordination with the Race Team, Racing for Dilano creates the structure for Driver Development Outside the Race Car to remain part of that individual progression.

THE RIGHT EXPERTISE.

THE RIGHT INFORMATION.

THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

AT THE RIGHT MOMENT.

AROUND THE YOUNG DRIVER.

WE CONNECT THE HIGH-PERFORMANCE ENVIRONMENT.

WE MANAGE THE PERFORMANCE INTELLIGENCE.

WE SUPPORT THE YOUNG DRIVER.

WE GUIDE THE INDIVIDUAL PROGRESSION.

PERFORMANCE PRINCIPLES

RECOVERY IS THE FOUNDATION OF FUTURE PERFORMANCE.

TIME IS A PERFORMANCE VARIABLE.

FASTER IS NOT THE OBJECTIVE.

THE RIGHT PROGRESSION IS.

THE PATHWAY PROVIDES THE IDEAL LINE.

THE RESPONSE, ADAPTATION AND PERFORMANCE OF THE DRIVER DETERMINE THE PACE.

OUT OF COMPETITION.

NEVER OUT OF DEVELOPMENT.

RACE READINESS IS NOT A DATE.

IT IS A DEMONSTRATED CAPABILITY.

RACE READINESS IS DEMONSTRATED THROUGH PERFORMANCE.

THE DRIVER DOES NOT SIMPLY NEED TO RETURN.

THE DRIVER NEEDS TO BE PREPARED TO COMPETE.

SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION

KEEP YOUNG DRIVERS IN THE HIGH-PERFORMANCE ENVIRONMENT.

Following an injury or race incident, time away from Competition can become a vulnerable period in a young driver’s racing career.

Racing for Dilano applies the DVH17 Pathway to each individual young driver.

The young driver is personally and professionally guided throughout their individual progression, with the required expertise connected around them through the High-Performance Environment.

Your contribution makes that personal and professional guidance possible for an individual young driver throughout their Return to Performance.

OUT OF COMPETITION.

NEVER OUT OF DEVELOPMENT.

SUPPORT A YOUNG DRIVER.

Better Connected. Better Supported. Better Prepared.
